Project End Alopecia (Gluten-Free): Day 19
1 year ago / in Project End Alopecia (Gluten-Free)
June 14, 2018
I’m writing this post so late because life has taken over at our fam-ville, between upcoming audit for our business, end of school year and all the good stuff that comes with starting the summer break. But in keeping with the original intention of starting this journal update, I still think better late than never.
Our gluten-free diet update
We’re still going steady with out gluten-free diet for Little Claire. She hasn’t been keeping up with her appetite, actually since recovering from her last sickness in March. Sometimes it takes a little more effort these days to get her to eat. So thankful for soygreen, because on days that she doesn’t eat well, soygreen to the rescue and I feel a lot better that she still gets an additional 8 grams of protein from soybeans and a bunch of other vegetables nutrient and fiber. More on soygreen here.
There is a few areas that we monitor closely every day.
1. Right parietal ridge area
One of the most visible patches due to its location, this patch started out small and grew bigger. On Day 19 of our Project End Alopecia (Gluten-Free), fine tiny hairs are sprouting up in the area slowly but surely.
2. Crown area toward the left side
Also very visible because it is right on the top of the head, it isn’t a particularly huge patch compared to the others but I pay extra attention because of its visibility. The regrowth in this area is probably also the most noticeable so far.
We are still doing ginger juice + essential oils treatment daily. That’s right, every single evening before bedtime. I’ve also simplified it enough to be able to do it pretty quickly: just drop some ginger juice into a sauce dish and add a couple drops of cypress + cedarwood + geranium + lemon (I ran out so I skip lemon these days). Dab it all over the bald patches and run it through parts where hair seems to be thinning.
The ginger + essential oils treatment is great because it isn’t oily and doesn’t leave you with greasy hair. We’ve paused our full-blown deep oil treatment for the last little while, mainly because the ginger treatment is much easier and also because I wanted to experiment with using ginger + essential oils treatment alone.
